Project Diary - 18/03/2013
The basic storyline for pre V2 Wars is complete (It will be posted below). Through team meetings ideas are being furthered to increase replayability of the game and the depth in which a player will feel immersed.
Art style and themes for each faction has been accessed and research has been done to help illustrate those styles for concept art and models.
Some concept art has been done to try and illustrate some of the ship ideas and environments on the new worlds. Additional to this J-man has been doing some very nice ship and building models.
Some preliminary short sound tracks have been done for the game based on the styles we have selected for each faction.

The Humming Bird - Pre V2 War Story line
The year is 2089, over the populace time has split them apart those countries once known as the EU and the USA combined to for the Federation, a super power far more powerful than all others with almost endless resources at their backs. The second super power known as the Asian Summit is a combination of all countries in Asia; China, Japan, Korea, Indonesia and Mongolia. The only other super power in the world is Russia they stand alone as a single country still remaining as a super power on their own.
The human race has spread beyond comprehension; to a near 25 billion, some 18 billion more since the turn of the century. The earth can no longer support this much life. The human race is force to spread their wings and fly. Advances in technology in space travel have meant humans can spend longer periods of time in space in self sustaining ships. The first ships to be made were labelled the Hydra Class Cruisers, some 50 cruisers left earth in search of new planets for the human race to populate. Some 79 years later in 2168 a mere 13 returned.
All was not lost however as of those 13 ships that returned 3 found habitable planets. The race was on. Global corporations poured there resources into space programs hoping to be the first to have their clutches on one of these new virgin worlds.
In this great time of development 4 new types of ship were born. From the Tyril corporation came the Fraith, a large ship with bulky engines, cargo bays and living quarters; this ship was made for long journeys. From the Yourn corporation came the Grys a small but incredibly quick craft capable of reaching the speed of light in less than a few hours. From the Hunii corporation came the Fracx, a long streamline ship capable of entering a planet’s atmosphere unlike other cruisers of its size. Finally from the Patrio corporation came the Felriz a brilliantly elegant cruiser capable of spending sustained lengths of time in space without support and having a very large living capacity, though it lacked in its cargo bay size to only a few landing craft.
By the year 2212 all corporations had begun there attempt at space conquest, there ships built and bolstered for the long journey ahead of them. However the super powers of earth had also decided to try and conquer these planets. The Federation had combined there resources to create the first Hydra class craft, and together they decided to dismantle these craft to combine them into one large and overwhelming ship. Later known as the Carhoon, this ship had a speed almost parallel to the Grys but the capacity for living space and cargo bay as the Tyril, it was capable of descending into the atmosphere of a planet just as the Fracx could but was as elegant in appearance as the Felriz. Most would say that the Federation had stolen the plans from the corporations creating there cruisers before them but all they would do if confronted would deny the claims.
From Russia came the Spuznic a rather tasteless craft that looked like it didn’t have an awful lot of passion put into during its design phase. But none the less it was a high capacity vessel with large cargo bays and multiple areas of the ship for living quarters. It could also descend into a planets orbit though it would perhaps be more apt to say it would fall to the planet’s surface rather than gracefully entering it. From The Asian Summit came the ZyChin this craft looked incredibly like a dragonfly, with an elegant and oriental touch. It was devilishly fast and was capable of light speed faster than any other ship. The downside was that it was incredibly cramped living quarters and cargo bays meant for only two land craft from the rear. The conquering wind of the human race began to sweep across the stars that for so long the human race had simply stared up at, it was there time.
What occurred upon reaching the new solar system was far from what anyone had imagined. People on earth thought that this race to the stars would only end in a bloody conflict between all factions, trying to claim as much of the solar system as they could. However instead the factions arrived and began to colonise in different locations all over the three habitable planets. There was no conflict, everything in the solar system ran like clockwork in complete harmony. The solar system was healthy and full of life, each planet was teaming with life, ecosystems thrived on the environments around them, strange animals scoured the land. The planet closest to the sun was an inhabitable one, known as H-567 otherwise known as Hyuna this was a planet consumed by fire, its surface was thick with molten rock, covered with seemingly endless mountain ranges thick with volcanoes. This place was a place of rage, a place no known living thing could survive.
Next in the solar system was S-657 otherwise known as Helrius, this was a harsh planet, habitable but a cruel place that only select creatures had managed to scrap a life from. Its surface was mainly covered in a dense dusty black maze of razor sharp rocks, mountain ranges and valleys full of dangers; only the strong survived here. The third planet from the solar systems star V-142, was Eylium or G-698. This planet was by far the most gentle of all, its surface was a luscious green of thick forests, open plains and wondrous mountains peaked with fine dusted layers of snow. This planet was full of life, from the elegant Ulyries; an amazingly formed and fantastically evolved horse like creature, to the smallest, Frorets; a shimmering fish like creature that could breath both in and out of the water. This planet was kind and fair.
Fourth from the star was W-729 or Welrys, this planet was almost completely covered in water with only a few areas of the planet sparsely speckled with land mass. The oceans of this planet also teamed with life, from the sea floor to the waters surface hundreds of leagues above, the waters here were alive.
Finally furthest away from the solar systems centre was G-756, or Daltr, a behemoth gas giant larger in size than all the planets combined, even with this enormous size there were little in terms of "surface" to this huge space tumour, comprised of primarily rock and ice at its core; and the rest a mixture of different molecular gasses and dust. This solar system was scientifically called S-560 but was labelled V2 as a symbol of Humans' second solar system that they had colonised. All planets were rich in a multitude of different metals that allowed for more extravagant constructs than ever before. Precious ores and minerals with fantastic properties like humans had never seen before, technological advances were swift. Whether it was military or civilian, the new technology was the talk of every colonised world. Factions quickly began to try and trade their new resources and products to amass large fortunes in which to smother themselves in what they desired, life on these new worlds was good.
Years past as the new cities developed and grew larger and larger, consuming more and more of the most available portions of the planet. The only places left untouched were areas that were difficult to landscape for appropriate foundations of the monumental constructs that now littered the solar system. Colonies, mines and factories gradually crept across the surface of the planets like a vile disease claiming a host's cells. The borders were eventually reached, provinces were filled and there was no place left to build.
Factions began talk to purchase other's land, but none would release the most precious of things. Land on these planets was far more precious than any of the minerals that they were rich with. Each faction hungered for more land to fill their ever deepening bank accounts. It wasn't long until one of them cracked and decided to take it by force. The V2 Wars had begun...

Project Diary - 30/03/2013
As we are a new team we think jumping into a larger project the scale of The Humming Bird would be foolish and we would inevitably end with a poorly made game as we will be developing our skills as we go through. So instead we have decided to do a seperate project to build the teams skills and see how the team works together on a project.
We apologise to those who were looking forward to seeing some content for The Humming Bird soon, but we promise we arent forgetting about it, we are simply preparing for it.
The new project is called Amissus.
